Position: Social Services Supervisor

Hours: Full- time, 35 hours/week

Salary: $4,845/month plus benefits

Location: 930 First Avenue, Madison, MN

Job Duties: To supervise the Social Services Unit including social workers and case aide working within the Children & Family Services and Behavioral Health divisions. Administer social services according to current state & federal policies; Ensure clients meet eligibility requirements for access to programs. Ensure referrals are screened, applications taken, assessments are completed and case management and care coordination is provided according to established guidelines. Provide good customer service and address complaints timely. Ensure both children and vulnerable adults receive protection services.

Minnesota Family Investment Program 2020-2021 Plan

Lac qui Parle County Family Service Center is developing the Minnesota Family Investment Program Plan for 2020-2021.  Citizen participation is invited in the development of this plan.

The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) [Minnesota Statutes 256J.626 requires counties to submit a biennial service agreement to the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) to receive these public funds. The primary purpose of the Biennial Service Agreement is to establish agreed upon outcomes and identify strategies counties will use to achieve these outcomes.

Copies of the proposed plan will be available at the Family Service Center at 930 First Avenue, Madison, MN or will be sent to you upon request by mail or email. The draft of the MFIP Biennial Service Agreement will be available for review and comment until October 15, 2019.

We encourage citizens of Lac qui Parle County to participate in the development of these plans by submitting written comments and suggestions to Kirsten Gloege, Director, Lac qui Parle County Family Service Center, P.O. Box 7, Madison, MN  56256.

Lac qui Parle County Curfew

How Old Is Old Enough To Be Left Home Alone?

Lac qui Parle County Guidelines:

  •  Children age 7 and younger must be supervised at all times!!!!

It may be acceptable for children:

  • Ages 8-10 to be left alone for short periods of time. (Not to exceed 3 hours).
  • Ages 11-13 to be unsupervised or to babysit with the expectation that the parent/caretaker returns within 12 hours.
  • Ages 14-15 to be unsupervised or to babysit with the expectation that the parent/caretaker returns within 24 hours.
  • Ages 16-17 to be unsupervised or to babysit for more than 24 hours if an emergency plan & adult backup is in place.

REMEMBER:

  • There is no magical age to leave a child home alone.
  • Maturity, development, handling emergencies & being responsible varies for each child.
  • The child should also feel confident & safe when alone.

Curfew for the City of Madison

  • All children ages 0-14 have a 10:00 p.m. curfew always. They may not be present at any public place, street, road, alley, park, playground or any vacant property or unsupervised place in the City unless accompanied by his or her parent/guardian.
  • It is unlawful for any parent, guardian or other person having lawful care, custody or control of any Child under the age 18 to allow or permit the child to violate the City of Madison’s curfew.
  • All Children ages 15-18 have an 11:00 p.m. curfew Sunday-Thursday. Friday and Saturday the curfew is 12:00 a.m. They may not be present at any public place, street, road, alley, park, playground or any vacant property or unsupervised place in the City unless accompanied by his or her parent/guardian.

Position:  Eligibility Worker – (EW)

Hours:  Full-time, 35 hours/week

Salary:  $19.61/hour

Location:  930 First Avenue, Madison, MN

Job Duties:   Determines financial eligibility for Food Support program (SNAP), MN Family Investment Program (MFIP) or Diversionary Work Program (DWP) and provides ongoing case maintenance. Provides training to clients on use of their electronic benefits (EBT) for food support. Determines cost effective insurance for the Medical Assistance program for other workers. Processes applications for child care assistance program (MEC2) and monitors cases.

Preferred Qualifications:   Good communication skills both orally and in writing; Ability to pay attention to detail; Ability to read and understand complex written instructions; Ability to keyboard and use a computer efficiently;  Ability to utilize on-line state networks to process applications and renewals; Ability to accept supervision and direction from others; And ability to work cooperatively with clientele and contracted providers.
