What & How to Recycle
Lac qui Parle county residents are asked to separate recyclables into the following TWO categories and place by curb/alley on scheduled pickup dates or bring to drop off sites on the designated dates and times for your community.
CATEGORY 1: ALL GLASS, PLASTIC AND METAL MAY BE COMINGLED
CATEGORY 2: ALL PAPER AND CARDBOARD MAY BE COMINGLED
CATEGORY 1: GLASS
ACCEPTABLE
- General Rule: Any Glass Food or Beverage Container (Clear, Brown, Green)
NOT ACCEPTABLE
- Dishes, Drinking Glasses
- Window Glass, Mirrors
- Ceramics, Vases
- Casseroles
- Light Bulbs
- Any Broken Glass
CATEGORY 1: PLASTIC
ACCEPTABLE
- General Rule: Any Plastic Container with a 2” or Less Opening with a on Bottom
- Accept: #1, #2, #4, #5, & #7
NOT ACCEPTABLE
- PLASTIC SHOPPING BAGS
- Bread Bags, Sandwich Bags
- Any Styrofoam, Packing Peanuts
- Plastic Egg Cartons, Meat Trays
- Cups, Plates, Cutlery
- Toys, Tools, Baskets, Hangers
- Rope, Pipe, Furniture, Etc.
- Cat Litter Containers
- Paint Cans with Metal Rims
- Medical Tubing

- Pop & Beer Can
- Pie Pans and Trays
- Tin Food Cans
- Aluminum Foil
- Empty Only Aerosol Cans
- Scrap Metal
NOT ACCEPTABLE
- Household Hazardous Waste Cans
- Our Recycler Prefers Empty Metal Paint Cans be Disposed of in the Garbage

- White & Colored Office Paper
- Envelopes, Junk Mail

- Seed Bags-Remove Plastic Insert

CATEGORY 2: CARDBOARD PLEASE FLATTEN TO CONSOLIDATE

- All Corrugated Cardboard (Clean and Dry)
- Paperboard from Cereal, Cracker, Cake, Food, & Beverage Boxes, Etc.
- Cardboard Egg Cartons
- Pringle Cans-Remove Metal
NOT ACCEPTABLE
- Milk & Juice Cartons
- Frozen & Refrigerated Food Cartons
RECYCLING REMINDERS:
- IF BINS ARE FULL-PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE RECYCLABLES ON THE GROUND BY TRAILER…PLEASE COME BACK WHEN TRAILER HAS BEEN EMPTIED
- PLEASE CLOSE LIDS TO KEEP OUT RAIN
- NO GARBAGE
- IF YOU BRING RECYCLABLES IN PLASTIC BAGS, EMPTY BAGS INTO PROPER BIN AND TAKE YOUR PLASTIC BAGS BACK HOME WITH YOU
