With the holiday season officially upon us, the green Holiday Lights Recycling bins have reappeared for the collection of old, broken, or unused holiday lights, as well as all types of cords, including extension, telephone, appliance, and computer cords. As decorations go up and come down, instead of throwing those old lights and cords away, look for and use the green Holiday Lights Recycling bins located throughout Madison and Dawson.
Holiday Lights collection bins can be found at both the elementary and high schools in Madison & Dawson, both Madison and Dawson City Halls, the Lac qui Parle County Courthouse and Annex, Hardware Hank, Madison Mercantile, NAPA, and Jubilee Foods in Madison, as well as Al’s Mercantile and Tim’s Food Pride in Dawson.
The Recycle Your Holidays program is funded by the Select Committee on Recycling and the Environment (SCORE) grant program, and promoted locally by the Lac qui Parle County Environmental Office. All recycled lights and cords collected in Lac qui Parle County are brought to and benefit the Canby Developmental Achievement Center. The Holiday Lights program ends January 30th.
If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact the Lac qui Parle County Environmental Office at 320-598-3132.
