It’s time for fall clean-up and the final Household Hazardous Waste Collection of the year.   A HHW Collection Event has been set for Wednesday, September 11th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the County Highway Garage in Dawson.  This event is open and free to all Lac qui Parle County residents.

Any old or unwanted paint, thinners, solvents, acids & bases, cleaning agents, pool chemicals, wood preservatives, home and garden pesticides, or other hazardous chemicals should be brought to the LQP County Highway Garage in Dawson on September 11th from 3 to 6 p.m. for safe and environmentally friendly disposal. The Dawson County Highway Garage address is 1792 295th Ave. and is located just south of Dawson on Main Street and the corner of County Road 10.

You can put your empty paint cans in your recycling if they have been rinsed free of paint residue.   If you’re unable to remove the residual paint, they can be disposed of in the trash with your regular household waste.
