The duties of the Environmental Office are coordinated through staff at the LQPYB Watershed District Office. 

Mission

The Environmental Department’s overall mission in administering the environmental programs and services below is to protect the public’s health, safety, & welfare of the citizens of Lac qui Parle County.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Environmental Department is responsible for administering plans and ordinances related to Planning & Zoning, Feedlot Management, & Solid Waste Management.  The Environmental Department is also responsible for permitting and enforcement of the State’s individual Septic Treatment System Program (SSTS).  The Department also issues Passports.

The Environmental Department can be separated into the following four major components:
